Il Carré di Hermès dedicato all'Orto Botanico di Palermo

The Hermès-Paris homage to the Botanical Garden

A shawl dedicated to the extraordinary biodiversity of the Botanical Garden of the University of Palermo

Art and Nature

Hermès-Paris has chosen the Botanical Garden of Palermo to create a 140 scarf, in silk and cashmere. Designed by François Houtin, it enhances its beauty and richness, sketching plants and architectural details: from the large Lord Howe Island Banyan (Ficus macrophylla f. columnaris) along the central avenue with tabular roots that incorporate the eighteenth-century columns to the Frangipani tree (Plumeria rubra), the typical flower of the city of Palermo, from the Bismarck palm of Madagascar (Bismarckia nobilis) to the East Indian Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) and many other plants that can be discovered by observing the scarf.

The Garden was chosen by the French fashion house for a patronage project and, thanks to this project, it has enriched its collections with five new very rare and precious plants: two specimens of Moore's Macrozamia (Macrozamia moorei), two Coquito Palm (Jubaea chilensis) and a Barber's Aloe (Aloidendron barberae), as well as a contribution for the restoration of the cactus greenhouse.
